door to the past

Chasing Ghost Town Series #1 – RiverSide, North of Omak, Aug 2011

continuation of Ghost Town Fascination that began with a trip to Bodie (CA)  in May 2009. Washington has a few such towns of it own (mostly in Okanogan County). Last weekend we drove to Molson (photos coming soon) which probably is the best open-to-public ghost town currently in WA. Riverside is ~5 miles north of Omak(where we camped) on Highway 97.

Riverside is a semi ghost town and not completely abandoned . We saw a few residential houses (and people living in them as we encountered kids skate boarding) , a gas station , a couple of abandoned cars and a few abandoned buildings like this one.
