the third eye

close-up details on the eye-spot pattern on the wings of an Owl butterfly (Caligo genus). Found in rainforests of Central and South America, this was bred in Tropical Butterfly House, Seattle Pacific Science centre. It is assumed that the pattern deters predators and is a form of self-defence.

to me this resembles the pattern on the peacock and whatever be the reason , it sure makes for a beautiful photo
