Humayun’s Tomb, Nizamuddin, Delhi, March 2009
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Humayun’s tomb was in news when President Obama during his India trip in 2010 visited this site. Build in the 16th Century, it is a fine example of Mughal Achitecture which inspired and led to many structures built in that era, many of which still survive in varying states of decay. This happens to have been very well maintained by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and draws a large number of tourists, both local and foreign. The design is inspired by Persian architecture along with elements of other local styles prevalent then.
Here is a different version taken during the same trip.
