Faces on the Street – the warrior

a proud Rajput, Jaisalmer Fort, Jan 2012

the title might need a bit of explanation, and it comes straight from the history books. Rajputs, were a proud race and Rajput patriotism is legendary, an ideal they embodied by choosing death before dishonor. Rajput warriors were often known to fight until the last man. I had a brief conversation with this young man, before I took his photo and even though my  weakening memory can’t seem to remember his name, the fact that he  proudly mentioned he was not just any Rajput, but one from the warrior class stuck in my memory
