Ghosts of Venice
Gandoliers at dusk, Venice, long exposure from San Marco Vaporetto Stop with Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute as backdrop
rumor has it that ”ghostly’ gondolas and gandoliers frequent this part of Venice . Their ‘ghostly’ presence can only be acknowledged if captured on a camera sensor (not any camera – it has to be a canon one). to the naked eye they are easily disguise as a modern day gondola.
btw ghosting here, can also refer to the (unpleasant) artifact associated with a specific type of post processing to increase the DR in pictures involving movement
Beautiful photo.!! And thank you for the follow :)
Thanks.. love the title of your blog :)
Thank you :)
Reblogged this on Bitratchet.
Wonderful effect, very moody.
Thanks Dina
Blue is one of my favourite colours, and these blues are stunning. As well, I like the point of view and narrow depth of field with the dome being the focal point..
Thanks Jane. The water takes on different colors at different times of the day with being slightly greenish/turquoise during sunlit hours.
interestingly 30-40 minutes after sundown (or before sunrise), the sky turns a rich cobalt blue. balancing and mixing hot lights (street lights) produces some very pleasing colors
Very cool image…and I have heard that Canon sensors are partial to apparitions…but only at night.
:) thanks David..btw the other ‘ghosting’ is the artifact of processing. don’t like that ghosting as much
Excellent, just the perfect amount of blur on the gondolas…
Thanks Alessandro. this also had the least clutter of the series I shot :)
