Guanajuato – cityscape

Dawn, Guanajuato city from Monumento a El Pípila, Dec 2013

Guanajuato, the capital of Guanajuato state, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a charming colonial-era city situated in a picturesque valley surrounded by the Sierra de Guanajuato mountains in Central Mexico. Founded by the Spanish in the early 16th century, Guanajuato’s rose to prominence was linked with the discovery of silver. It become the world’s leading silver-extraction centre in the 18th century. Guanajuato was also witness to one of the important battle during the Mexican war of independence (more on this later).

  1. Superbe picture, I really like it.All is good :the dramatic sky, and the pink clouds, the saturation of the roofs is just like it have to be and the light of the church make that our eyes always return to it: the principal subject.
    Great composition

    • Hey, thank you for taking the time to drop by and leaving your comment. It was a beautiful morning with just a hint of the color (red/pink) during sunrise that lasted for a total of 5 minutes and I am glad I was out and about ready then :)
