I can’t recall why this photograph was lying in the unprocessed bin for so long. I am guessing the criterion used to be different then (perhaps did not pass sharpness test then which doesn’t bother me now).
This was shot, on a really cold November evening , stopping the car on the side at St Helens National Monument
Hassan II Mosque, Casablanca on the banks of Atlantic Ocean, Designed by French architect Michel Pinseau.
The details inside the mosque is quite exquisite and warrants spending a few hours. We just had one hour in between getting in and out of Casablanca (transit) and were not sure if it was worth getting to the mosque (~40 km from airport), as it was cloudy and getting dark (~5 pm, Nov). In end it was an impulsive decision to still catch a quick glimpse but it got progressively darker and cloudier (started drizzling) and by all accounts looked like we made a bad choice – till the lights in the mosque came alive and contrasted with the blue hour to make a beautiful frame
